News around the NCAA

Kansas - Dezmon Briscoe practiced for Kansas and is academically eligible, so it looks good for the Jayhawks as one of the country's top pass catchers will be available this fall. Briscoe is complemented well by back up quarterback/possession receiver Kerry Meier in a Kansas offense that should be sharp (no pun intended). Todd Reesing and Jake Sharp are also back for an underrated Kansas squad.

NC State - I heard some rumblings about Russell Wilson being outperformed by Sean Glennon's younger brother, Mike. Mike isn't expected to take Wilson's job, but he will be taking some of his snaps this fall. Coach Tom O'Brien has been quoted that Mike will get some legit playing time this fall, as NC State will need a back-up if something were to happen to Wilson. Wilson was injury plagued at times last season, so a back-up option is important. When and how much time Glennon will receive is yet to be completely determined, but some news outlets are saying a first half series each game. Having two good quarterbacks is a good thing, but is it worth taking out a first team All-ACC player and possibly have him lose his rhythm for a guy coming cold off the bench?

Georgia - Word out of Athens is Moreno won't have a successor. His job will be shared as coach Richt doesn't expect one running back to outperform the other players well enough to gain a solid grip on the position. "We are going to find out who is the best back, if there is such a thing," Richt said in a quote from SI.com, "We might have a situation where two or three are the best backs. I doubt one man will get every carry. More than likely it will be by committee." Caleb King is the most experienced, but Richard Samuel, Washaun Ealey, and Carlton Thomas will all be fighting for some of those carries.
